Digitek has been DJ'ing since the tender age of 10. He insists he learned and disciplined himself from listening to local hip-hop mix show DJ's and DJ's such as Keoki and Paul Van Dyk which later turned his attention to trance and more hypnotic sounds.
Jackson (Who grew up in Washington D.C./Baltimore, MD.) got his first taste of Underground Music by purchasing a Roni Size CD. He later tuned his ear to Chicago's U.C. Music which showcased Hard House DJ's that used a technique called: "Bang mixing",...in learning that technique he also applied the principals of oldskool 80's DJ's like Grand Master Flash who emphasized modulations as a way of harmonic beat mixing.
Digitek's family has perhaps had the biggest influence on him because they didnt and still don't want him to choose DJ'ing as a career. Digitek wound up serving in Iraq instead as a Navy E.O.D. (Explosives Ordanince Disposal) expert. Upon returning home to a failed marriage and a Rave scene in shambles as well as severe P.T.S.D., Digitek decided hustling and producing MDMA (Ecstasy/ 3,4-methylenedioxymethylamphetamine) would be a tool in his rise to the top. He wound up loosing most of what he had and hitting rock bottom.
One day while sitting in a rural virginia jail cell for a drug interdiction stop he recalled the love he had for listening to Gangstar, Immortal Technique and Jedi Mind Tricks in Iraq and after returning home from combat. Digitek had an epithany and decided to refocus his DJ style to accomidate Conscience Hip-Hop as well as Liquid Funk and Ragga Jungle. From that moment forward he devoted his musical talent to war/political awareness and activism.
It's now been 14 years since Digitek first laid hands on a pair of MK-II's and in looking at his keen sense of programming and mixing skills it definitely explains his style and choice of tracks. Digitek is a dedicated DJ who believes spinning records is something you do, but, DJ'ing is a way of life.
