Founded by singer and now editor Mark Dwayne in 1998, Street Cred Magazine is an urban multi-cultural entertainment and lifestyle magazine with a demographic targeting 16-30 year olds. It started off as a 1 page supplement in the Community Enterprise newspaper and has now grown into a 100 page glossy internationally known magazine. Running for 10 years, it has over 400,000 monthly readers in the UK and is available to a world audience for free online at www.streetcredmagazine.com
Street Cred Magazine has now spawned other types of media and entertainment events due to its success. The first of which is a radio program called
"Street Cred Live", it began in December 2007 and airs seven days a week on ASTON FM 89.1. It is based on the Aston Villa football grounds in the West Midlands. The station reaches 140,000 listeners a day.
"Our show is the most cutting edge nite time radio show in the Midlands."
In February 2008,
"Funkalicious" a new monthly club event was made. It is held on the last friday of every month at club Barracuda located in Birmingham's China Town.
Lastly, also in 2008 the magazine founded its own record label
"Street Cred Records" accompanied by artist management and booking support.

In the company of the likes of novelist and former MP Lord Jeffrey Archer, Darcus Howe of Channel 4’s Devil’s Advocate and Body Shop founder, Anita Roddick, Street Cred Co-ordinator, Mark Dwayne proudly received the crystal cut glass trophy as the best media newcomer in its field in Britain. And this endorses that Street Cred Magazine, the Entertainment Eye of the Midlands is at the forefront for putting local talent on a national and international platform."
