I'm not a huge reader, as most of it is non-fiction reference type material... but... my latest read was a great and influential one..
-Last Night a DJ Saved my Life - Bill Brewster & Frank Broughton
An excellent view into the makings of the DJ and the origins of correlated music genres (almost all of them)

audiophile at heart In my city it's hard enough being JUST a DJ, so I do much more than that. I work at a recording studio, where I am an engineer, producer, technician, and office assistant. At home, I produce music and mix sets too. There's no down-time from my favourite thing.
Spinning music that makes people feel groovy, that makes me feel groovy.. It's a really groovy thing! Back in 1998, when I first tried out the concept of making music electronically, the idea of mixing it in 2001 when I first mixed 2 tracks together was enticing enough to change my life for the better. I came across friends and times that remain pivotal in my life of music and DJing. I still love the rush of trance music, the subtle power of progressive, the funk and groove of house, and the everlasting genious of most all other music genres. Growing up with alternative rock, pop hits, and electronica has added musical flavour to my senses and tastes.
All events where you may find Aren spinning tunes are now hosted by the excellent team at ViTAL Entertainment. Check out our website [vitalevents.net] and [join our facebook group] to keep up to date on ViTAL events!
