I know this one may be a little off topic but I've just been looking at a demo of some new software from Propellerhead called record. Apparently it works with reason software enabling you to use all the samplers and effects found in reason 4 and also enables you to record other instruments like guitars along with built-in guitar effects from line 6.

Here's a quick video showing what it can do.

What do you guys think? Is it worth getting, compared to similar software like Cubase or ProTools?

It looks ok. Like all the rest of the tracking software but shit, why didn't they just bundle it all together for an all in one package like the new Studio One from Presonus? I will start a thread about that in a sec. This new software will blow you away.

reason is very quirky software it took me awhile to grasp how it works & the a little longer to get it to work with logic but its a great piece of kit once you master it . I never tried recording anything ing in reason I always done it in logic & worked reason around it..........................all I can say is better the devil you know

I tried the beta version but found that my computer struggled even with 4 GB of RAM. I think for now the best option is to rewire reason with ProTools.

I like ....... love reason for its wacky & totally unique sounds you gotta admit its a real pain in the ass to understand but once you suss it really rocks................ unfortunately as much as I love reason V.4 I do find it a bitch to work with but like a good woman you gotta know how to play her sadly I learned the hard way with reason & was bitch slapped in the process but I love its sounds & love its potential so wil always sing it praises I use it logic & get some pretty wild shit :)

The songs I've produced(just started) have all been with reason and I am very happy with its capabilities.  I will agree I've beaten my head up against the wall trying to figure it out sometimes but I love it to death.  The sounds are right up my alley, especially with all the refills out there.
