when I first started trying to mix music I thought it was crucial to learn how match beats , I first started by taking 2 of the same tune & playing them 'til I got them synced then I started to cue up tracks on the first kick drum of the first bar & mixing from there . Then I started trying this technique with various styles & found it too work

Pretty much the same as you SoulJacker although I didnt mix the same track. I just cue'd up the first kick on the deck that wasnt playing and started it off at the right point (bar wise) and listened to it go out of sync a few times (in the headphones) till I got my head round wether it was too fast or too slow.

A lot of my friends were already DJ's and I had watched them many times fiddling about with the platter's and the spindle. What I had seen them do started to make sense.

If not now, when?

I just started by mixing random songs and starting them at the first beat I could find.  Pretty much the same as you guys.
